NEW CUBA DESTINATION - CAYO PAREDON

Cayo Paredon, in the middle of the Gardens of the King Archipelago, has been known to anglers for some time. Vacationers, staying at the many resorts in nearby Cayo Coco, would find a way to book a fishing guide for a day and venture on to the flats in shoddy skiffs.

Fly Fishing the Run has just obtained the license to manage the fishery at and around Cayo Paredon. As a point of reference, Paredon is located to the east of Cayo Santa Maria (famous for its Tarpon fishery), and west of Cayo Cruz (famous for Permit and big Bonefish). Guests would arrive via the airports at Cayo Coco or Camaguey if they could. Most American guests will fly to Havana, and then travel overland to Paredon.

To be honest, I have not stayed at this new resort, or fished the area immediately around Paredon. I have been to the west and east many times. I have every confidence that this is an excellent fishery. It should gain most of its fame for having excellent Bonefish and Permit habitat. Once Spring and early Summer arrive, it should also see an influx of migratory Tarpon, just as the areas do to each side of it.

I am wanting to take advantage of this being the first year of business for this operation. The introductory price is excellent, and I can guarantee it will not last. I have asked the outfitter for a prime week in late May or early June. I should have the specific week shortly. The price will be $4100 per person, plus transportation from Havana in all likelihood. There are a few small details which I will need to nail down, but the price should not change much.

I will have space, and need, 7 anglers looking for adventure. If you want on the short list, reach out to me asap and I will add you to the list. After that, people making deposits will be confirmed.

This short photo gallery is from habitat to the east and west, but should be similar to what we find around Paredon. I am also including the few photos of the new resort, which is a few months away from opening.
